Velocimetry

Laser surface velocimeters (LSV) enable the measurement of the speed and the length of moving surfaces on almost every moving material. For example, our lasers are used in velocimeters measuring the speed of hot metal during the rolling process in steel mills or controling the manufacturing process of cables and wires.
Laser velocimeters make use of the Doppler shift by detecting and evaluating the light scattered back from a moving object. Our single frequency lasers are the ideal light source. The high stability of the emission wavelength and the small linewidth provide highest accuracy of the measurements at any time.

Especially the 780 nm and 785 nm lasers match perfectly with various Si detectors that are widely available on the market. Our so-called RWS lasers are designed for all kind of interferometric applications that require a cost effective solution.
